Itinerary Information

Day 1: Welcome to São Miguel

Upon your arrival at Ponta Delgada International Airport, you’ll be met by your driver and brought to your Ponta Delgada city center hotel to drop your bags. Today is yours to explore!  Start your culinary exploration with breakfast by the marina, or head straight to the marketplace to visit the vendors for fresh fruit, vegetables, and local delicacies. In the evening, enjoy a delicious welcome dinner at your hotel.  

Day 2: Ponta Delgada Food Tour

Spend the afternoon discovering some of the best food in Portugal on your guided culinary walking tour through Ponta Delgada. Explore artisanal eateries and restaurants in a mix of sightseeing, delicious food, and great stories. From timeless recipes to innovative modern cuisine, you will enjoy a progressive menu that includes the unique Azorean pineapple, physalis and blackberry jams, seafood and organic meats, and homemade desserts such as passion fruit bavaroise and green tea ice cream! 

Day 3: Full Day Furnas Tour

After breakfast, you will be picked up at the hotel for your full-day tour of eastern São Miguel and Furnas. Make a morning stop in the beautiful seaside town of Vila Franca do Campo to enjoy a cup of coffee and the beautiful seaside. Visit Terra Nostra Park and wander through the award-winning botanical garden and take a dip in the natural geothermal hot springs. In Furnas town, see where your traditional lunch of ‘cozido das Furnas’ is being cooked by the geothermal energy in the ground and then feast on the locally grown products. After lunch, have a tasting of locally-made liquors then heading to Miradouro do Ferro to see the archipelago’s oldest crater. Lastly, visit Europe’s oldest tea plantation to learn how the tea is cultivated and produced. 

Day 4: Your Day To Explore

Today is yours to continue your culinary adventure on your own. Consider making a reservation at a local favorite, A Tasca restaurante, for the best cheese board in town, and after Gelataria Abracadabra for dessert. For dinner, Quinta dos Sabores offers an amazing tasting menu! Happy eating! 

Day 5: Until Next Time

After breakfast, spend your remaining time shopping for souvenirs or strolling by the marina before your transfer back to the airport for your flight home.
